Supervision Services

Signature Case Management, Services, and Supervision

The Family Court Social Services Division Pre- and Post- Supervision Branches are made up of Region I and Region II. Both regions are responsible for providing supervision for youth from the beginning of their case until the case is closed. Following the Family Court Act’s ‘One Judge, One Family’ guidelines, there is one probation officer assigned to the juvenile throughout the entirety of his or her case.

The Pre and Post Supervision Branches are made up of eight satellite offices and programs across the city. Each youth’s case is assigned to one of the offices, based on their residence, gender, and offense. Regardless of the assignment, each youth receives the following services:

  • Home Visits - made to ensure that the youth are in a healthy, safe, and stable home
  • School Visits/Monitoring – Probation Officers (POs) monitor attendance and behavior of the youth and communicate with school personnel to ensure proper school placement and academic success
  • Office Visits – youth have a structured reporting schedule and are supervised by their POs
  • Curfew Checks (visits and calls) – POs monitor compliance with court-ordered curfews to ensure the safety of the youth and the community
  • Electronic Monitoring (GPS)
  • Family Group Conferencing – Meeting with family members to address family dynamics and assist parents and youth
  • Anger Management Groups
  • Drug Testing and Drug Education
  • Indoor and outdoor activities such as flag football and participating in community events
  • Nutritional Snacks and/or Meals
  • Limited transportation or metro tokens

There are five satellite offices currently operating in the community. These are:

  1. the Southeast Satellite Office (SESO) with houses the Southeast Balanced and Restorative Justice Drop-In Center (BARJ)
  2. the Northeast Satellite Office (NESO) which houses the Northeast Balanced and Restorative Justice Drop-In Center (BARJ), and
